Toyota RAV4 2019: more attractive, with more space and with diesel engine
Toyota has presented at the Auto Show in New York the fifth generation of its veteran compact SUV, the Toyota RAV4, which will reach the European market in the first quarter of 2019 to coincide with its 25th anniversary.

The SUV of the Japanese brand is renewed to adopt a more attractive aesthetic by means of, among other elements, a redesigned front, bicolor body and a more dynamic line, although without abandoning its robust forms and a presence with packaging on the road.
The Toyota RAV4 2019, which shares the TNGA platform with the new Auris and the CH-R, measures 4.6 meters long -5 millimeters less than its predecessor-, 1.86 meters wide (1 centimeters more), and 1 , 69 meters high (1 cm less). But the most significant change is in the distance between axles, because it increases by 3 cm when cutting the corbels expanding the space in the interior. The trunk also gains capacity compared to the current model, although the firm has not encrypted the improvement.
In addition, it enjoys a greater ground clearance and a chassis that has improved its resistance to torsion by 57%.
With respect to the motorization, in the USA it will not be commercialized with diesel variant as it will happen in the European range after the measure adopted by the company for the new cars that it sells in the Old Continent. It will be offered, therefore, with two options: a hybrid composed of a new 2.5-liter gasoline engine, whose thermal efficiency goes up to 40%, along with two other electric-one for each axis; and the mentioned 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline with VVT-iE technology, associated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Both have four-wheel drive and, in the case of gasoline, the gear change can also be manual. In addition, the 4x4 variant has a rear axle disconnection system for situations that are not necessary in order to improve efficiency.
In the driving assistance section, the RAV4 has the Toyota Safety Sense, which includes: adaptive cruise, inadvertent lane departure warning and lane maintenance assistant, traffic signal recognition or the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, among others.
The new Toyota Rav4 will hit the market in the first months of next year, so the brand will soon reveal the propellers, finishes and prices of the range for Spain.
