Citroën C4 Cactus 2018: becomes the new compact of the brand and says goodbye to the Airbumps
The French car company Citroën has presented the new C4 Cactus, manufactured at the PSA Group plant in Villaverde (Madrid), which will arrive in Spain in the first quarter of next year. This model abandons its crossover image and becomes the new compact saloon of the brand, as it will replace the current C4. In addition, he says goodbye to his pronounced and characteristic Airbumps, and releases a new suspension.
The Citroën C4 Cactus 2018 acquires a new wide front, and a rear where it integrates new 3D LED lights. But above all, they emphasize redesigned flanks in which the prominent Airbumps have been replaced by others of symbolic size, saying goodbye to the most identifying feature of his predecessor. As for its dimensions, it has a length of 4.17 m, a width of 1.71 m, a height of 1.48 m, and a battle of 2.60 meters.
In the cockpit, the gala firm is committed to a spacious interior with a clear driving position. The central screen (7 "), the digitized instrument panel and the panoramic glass roof are some of the most outstanding elements, but the signature also highlights the increase in comfort achieved in the front seats, for which it has been used "a new foam of high density that increases comfort." In addition, they have a lumbar adjustment for the driver in order to achieve an ideal support of the lumbar. The capacity of the trunk is 358 l, but reaches up to the 1,170 l with the rear bench folded down.
Suspension improvements
Under the hood, the Citroën C4 Cactus adds to its range the 130 hp PureTech petrol engine associated with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Similarly, 1.2 PureTech of 82 hp - access to the range - is maintained, and the 1.2 PureTech turbo 110 hp. Meanwhile, the diesel offer is made up of 1.6 BlueHDi of 100 hp, and later will be added the BlueHDi of 120 hp with automatic transmission.
And in order to reinforce the feeling of well-being during the march, Citroën adds the new hydropneumatic damping. Thus, the Hydraulic Progressive Shock Absorbers (APH) work in combination with the hydraulic compression or extension stops to make less movement at the end of the route, and achieve a "flying carpet" effect, as the firm defines.
The new compact saloon is equipped with 12 driving assistance technologies, including: automatic emergency braking, recognition of speed signals, warning of unintentional lane change, blind spot monitoring system, Park Assist or access and start with the key in your pocket, among others. Neither the 'Mirror Screen' connectivity function nor the emergency call and geolocated assistance service is missing.
